Up to 50% of the drinking water that is currently being consumed for commercial, industrial and other uses can safely be replaced with rainwater.  Such "soft water" uses include toilet flushing, laundry, cleaning, car washing & garden irrigation.  Given the current climate change effect and the impending increase in water metering, rainwater harvesting systems are suddenly gathering a lot of interest for commercial, financial and the obvious environmental reasons.
