Why our customers use us

Design

of on-site sewage sewage treatment and pumping schemes, from single houses through to hotels, caravan sites and holiday parks: anything, in fact, not connected to the main sewer. Our expertise is sought by builders, architects, engineers, and property owners. We work in collaboration with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, the Environment Agency, and Natural Resources Wales to design the most cost-effective and efficient wastewater treatment and disposal system for your needs.

Supply

of all products, from small domestic systems to large commercial plants for 1,000s of people. Our products include standard and shallow-dig septic tanks, package pump stations for both domestic and commercial use, grease management systems, and rainwater harvesting systems for commercial properties.

Installation

is where our expertise shines. We have a successful history of installing septic tanks for homes and sewage treatment plants that can accommodate up to 5000 people. What makes us unique is our dedication to excellence, which is achieved by utilizing our own fully-employed teams. This ensures strict control and the maintenance of high-quality standards from start to finish.

Maintenance

of everything we either design and/or supply and/or install. We prioritize providing the best value for our domestic maintenance services in northern England and southern Scotland, while our commercial services cover the entire UK and aim to prevent any business interruptions by providing top-notch service.

The Team

Peter Stedman

Operations Director

Peter obtained an Honours degree in construction from Trent Polytechnic and started working as a site engineer. He gradually took on more challenging construction and civil projects, including schemes for Morrison’s Supermarkets, ICI, and British Steel. Peter became an engineer at Hutchinson in 1996 and played a vital role in expanding the business into one of the most reliable and reputable specialist off-mains wastewater treatment and pumping design and installation companies in the construction industry. In 2011, Peter partnered with Doddie Weir to purchase the business from the original founder and owner, George Hutchinson, and together, they wrote a new chapter in the company’s 50-year history. Despite having lived in Hexham for 20 years, Peter is still referred to as “just up from Yorkshire.”

Paul Usher

Technical Manager

Paul put his degree in European Languages to good use when he was responsible for all of Kingspan Klargester’s and Entec/Titan Pollution Control’s international sales for several years. Resulting in extensive knowledge of sewage treatment products and off-mains wastewater treatment in continental Europe and the USA. Paul’s experience on building sites further enhances his abilities in refining Kingspan Klargester’s Accredited Installer Network. He has compared all UK treatment plant manufacturers’ products and treatment processes, allowing him to recommend the best sewage treatment solution for any site and owner’s specific requirements. Although Paul lives in the southern Lake District, he frequently travels to Yorkshire, Lancashire and north Cumbria for work. His colleagues admire his obsession with solving problems related to malfunctioning commercial sewage treatment systems, which results in effective solutions. Paul is a former Vice Convenor of British Water’s Package Sewage Treatment Plant Focus Group.
