Water Treatment Guidelines Surpassed By Finchale Abbey Installation
Two wastewater treatment plants have been installed, by
Hutchinson Environmental Solutions, as part of an extensive
redevelopment at the Finchale Abbey Caravan Park in County
Durham. Set in an idyllic location, close to the River
Wear and overlooking Benedictine Priory ruins, the Park
is being transformed to replace former static van sites
with fifty luxury log cabins. In such a location, it
was essential to install a plant that provided discreet,
high performance treatment, prior to discharge to a reed
bed and return to a stream.
As part of the first phase of the two-stage development, WPL’s HiPAF and Diamond
systems were installed and
the reed bed fully lined. The compact design of each WPL
plant ensured fast installation below ground, with minimal
ongoing maintenance requirements.
Park Owner, Ann Welsh commented, “With visitors to
Finchale Abbey living so close to nature, it was vital
that our wastewater was treated in the most natural way
possible, but without any associated smell, noise or inconvenience.
By combining WPL’s plant and the reed bed, Hutchinson
Environmental provided a solution that not only exceeded
our expectations, but also the environmental guidelines!”
